We got caterpillars from a nice lady at the springfield nature center on "bug o rama" night.she said they were luna moth caterpillars, and a google search seemed to confirm this. we fed the caterpillars and waited patiently once they retreated into cocoons and one morning we awoke to find a beautiful moth, not however the moth we expected, a luna moth is described as light green and has a fancy tail on its bottom wings.
I really must find the womans name who gave us the caterpillars and ask her about this, dont hold your breath :)
